Saint Andrew's Church - 1
The Church Building
The Church is a fine, large, light and attractive building, constructed of ashlar granite in the15th century. It has a well proportioned tower with a peal of six bells of which the tenor weighs 13.5 cwt. The bells were rehung in 1970 and are rung each week. The roof, mainly slated on the outside, has some interesting wall plates and carved bosses inside above a nave and chancel with north and south aisles. There is a small amount of stained glass in the perpendicular windows. A more detailed description of the architecture will be found on page two.

The total population is about 500 of which some 150 live in the village and the rest in small hamlets and farms. The village is attractive with many traditional cob and thatch houses.
